“Dopo essermi trasferito allo Studio Z, Don Van Vliet venne a trovarmi. Con lui feci alcune registrazioni (nel periodo precedente alla Magic Band di Beefheart). Il gruppo si chiamava The Soots. Tra le varie canzoni, registrammo Metal Man Has Won His Wings, Cheryl’s Canon e una cover della canzone di Little Richard, Slippin’ and Slidin’ (cantata nello stile di Howlin’ Wolf)”.
