Il retro della copertina di questo vinile riporta il seguente testo in inglese:
“Originally formed in 1965 the Mothers of Invention were probably the first important satirical rock band in America. The brainchild of 33-year-old Francis Vincent Zappa, who earlier claimed to have been the first independent studio owner on the West Coast, the Mothers have been responsible in one form or another for nearly 20 albums. The early LP’s, from which this collection is drawn, were the most directly satirical and also considered the most musical and most American. Musicians in the band at that time were Ray Collins (vocals), Jim Black (drums), Roy Estrada (bass) and Elliot Ingber (guitars) with help from anyone who happened to be passing. This line-up lasted virtually intact until 1970 when a complete shake-up brought in ex Turtles Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan and former John Mayall drummer Aynsley Dunbar among others. In 1971 Zappa fell from the stage at London’s Rainbow Theatre and resulting injuries kept him out of action for over a year, after which he broke up the band again. The Mothers continue to live, however, as a variable vehicle for Zappa’s music”.
